Very rare in Gascony, the Chenin grape variety was introduced on our estate at the end of the 1980s. Depending on the terroir, it can produce both dry or sweet white wines.
Domaine Tariquet is one of the very few wineries to cultivate this variety in our region, where it is quite difficult to grow.
It offers notes of white flowers and citrus, a touch of minerality, but its most enticing character is the nervy and twitchy tension that one finds on the palate.
At Domaine Tariquet, it combines wonderfully with Chardonnay in two of our dry white wines: the Charmers’ Chenin/Chardonnay and the sparklinEntracte.
Chenin is also a part of final blend ofClassic.
Sémillon is a grape variety that is almost non-existent in Gascony. It’s most often used to produce sweet wines but is used for dry white wines as well.
Domaine Tariquet is the only grower of Sémillon in Gascony.
At Domaine Tariquet, its lemony and floral notes, its length and tension on the palate, as well as the minerality it brings to the final blend of our dry white wineRéserve, are very much appreciated.
Riesling is one of the emblematic and important grape varieties of Alsace and Germany. It works equally well for dry or sweet white wines.
Very aromatic, one can find notes of citrus, yellow fruits, white flowers, and lime tree leaf.
Domaine Tariquet was the first estate to give this grape variety a chance in the Gers. Planted in 2010, we remain one of the only Riesling producers in the region.
Alongside Ugni blanc,Riesling represents the main variety in the blend of Imprévu.
It is blended with Ugni blanc for our Bas-ArmagnacsVS, VSOP, XO, Hors d’Âge 20 ans, Le Légendaire, Montreur d’Ours. It is also offered as , a single varietal with 20 years of ageing.
Folle Blanche is a rare grape variety. Fragile and capricious, yet imbued with finesse and elegance, it’s probably the oldest known grape variety in Armagnac.
It fell into discontent post-phylloxera due to its sensitivity to climatic hazards which could lead to significant harvest losses. But at Domaine Tariquet, we love what it has to offer and have worked since the early 1980s to increase its presence in our vineyards. Today, Domaine Tariquet is the main producer of Folle Blanche in Armagnac.
This grape variety produces light wines of remarkable finesse with a beautiful acidity that’s particularly sought after for distillation. And as it develops during barrel ageing, it gains floral and spicy notes.
Folle Blanche can be discovered as a single varietal in the Blanche Armagnac, the pure Folle Blanche VS, and is the main grape variety of the prestigious Le Légendaire.
Bottled at cask strength, Domaine Tariquet has created a range of single varietal Folle Blanche aged 8 , 12 , 15 and25 years.
Almost abandoned in the Armagnac appellation, Plant de Graisse was replanted by Domaine Tariquet in 2001.
The grape’s natural richness, viscosity, and sheer power, alongside its astonishing length is widely appreciated.
It is the main grape of the Bas-Armagnac Montreur d’Ours. It can also be enjoyed as a single varietal, aged 18 years.
