THE VARIETALS
This range of single varietal Bas-Armagnacs present Ugni blanc, Baco and Plant de Graisse, each bottled at different ages that we feel best express their respective varietal characters.
UGNI BLANC 10 ANS
Composed exclusively of Ugni blanc, this Bas-Armagnac is a blend of several barrels, the youngest being 10 years old and therefore the one selected for its classification.
Aged minimum 10 years, 49.5°alc.
Grape variety: Ugni blanc 100%
Tasting notes
This Bas-Armagnac is an exceptional example of Ugni blanc: fruit, finesse, freshness, liveliness, and elegance. Its bright colour is tinted gold and orange. The nose reveals buttery notes, mirabelle plums and roasted pineapple. On the palate, one will find notes of coffee, toast, and cayenne pepper.
Tasting recommendations
To best discover the uniqueness of the Ugni blanc grape variety, serve at room temperature.
PLANT DE GRAISSE 18 ANS
This rare, ancient grape variety almost disappeared from the region after the phylloxera crisis which destroyed most of European vineyards in the 19th century. It was replanted at Domaine Tariquet in 2001.
This Bas-Armagnac, composed exclusively of Plant de Graisse, combines several different aged barrels; the youngest being 18 years old, thus the mention of this age on the bottle.
Aged 18 years minimum, 49.3° alc.
Grape variety : Plant de Graisse 100%
Tasting notes
A golden colour with copper highlights. A nose with notes of orange peel and spices. On the palate, hints of bitter cocoa and liquorice and a surprising, almost “oily” texture. The Plant de Graisse reveals an aromatic complexity that is out of the ordinary, supported by the typical richness of this grape variety. Great power and great length.
Tasting recommendations
To be enjoyed neat, to best experience the particularity of this grape variety.
Tasting notes
After extended ageing, Baco shows a structure, complexity, finesse, and elegance that are truly remarkable. The colour is golden with orange highlights. The nose is reminiscent of white pepper and ginger. The palate is marked by bitter orange, banana, and spices. The finish gives way to candied fruit notes.
Tasting recommendations
To be enjoyed on its own to appreciate the fullness of the Baco grape variety. It pairs wonderfully with honey pastries.
