For the Grassa family, the choice of sustainable agriculture implies the refusal to give in to convenient solutions and demands to increase productivity. Conversely, they refuse to give in to systematic dogmatism, demagoguery, and enticing promises.
At Domaine Tariquet, conscious that every climato-geographic situation is different, we believe that methods must be adapted to each unique situation. We must therefore be flexible, and favour measured and thoughtful practices. We must constantly re-evaluate and adapt our methods.
Our reflections are based on both keen observation as well as an openness to different sources of knowledge, techniques and schools of thought. We do not believe in dogmatic “one size fits all” solutions.
There is no single solution that can be applied universally. We do know our starting point: the specificity of our terroir and the current trend towards climate change.
One must always question oneself. Never hesitate to change their practices and habits. To look everywhere for inspiration: scientific and technical progress, acquired experience, human interaction. This is our modus operandi.
We regularly call on independent experts to get an outsiders view on not only what we are doing, but what we are thinking. This exchange of ideas and dual reflection helps enrich our knowledge. These experts are a diverse lot that can help us in many different aspects of our business : Conservatory of Natural Spaces (Conservatoire des Espaces Naturels (CEN), professional beekeepers, doctoral students in RD, research laboratory on the absence of residues, etc.
According to famed agronomist Franck Dubordieu : “ To best serve the terroir means only accepting technology if it reveals nature. ”
The area covered by Domaine Tariquet is made up of a wide variety of biotopes, wich absolutely must be protected.
